Perspective (2009)
Stereoscopic Experimental. 4 minutes. Dual 16mm.
Changes in perception, and being perceived.

We chose to make this work in 3D, both as a technical exploration of what stereoscopic cinema was capable of, and because we felt this would embody the experience of interacting with a person in a way 2D cinema is not capable of. We used the concept of someone who is aware of their perception of the world changing and aware of those around them perceiving them differently. The illusion of depth allows the viewer to see the world as if it were real, to see the character actually reaching out for your help or running away from you, to see the character's world become chaotic and distorted, but keeps the viewer in the position of a passive spectator, unable to interact with or help the character.
Shot on 16mm color reversal with two ARRI SR2's.
